The Constitution gives United States Senators responsibility for providing advice and consent to the President on federal judicial nominations. One important part of this role is that Senators recommend individuals to the President to serve as U.S. Circuit Court Judges and U.S. District Court Judges as well as U.S. Attorneys and U.S. Marshals.
Senator Padilla has established a Judicial Evaluation Commission in each federal district to review candidates for the positions on an ongoing basis for the positions of U.S. District Court Judge, U.S. Attorney and U.S. Marshal.
If you are interested in being considered, please complete the application and send it together with supporting documents electronically to Mr. Daniel Suvor, statewide chair of the Senator’s judicial evaluation commission, at sen.judicial.application@gmail.com. Interested applicants are advised to apply now and not to wait for a vacancy to arise. Likewise, if you would like to recommend a candidate for a Ninth Circuit, U.S. District Court Judge, U.S. Attorney or U.S. Marshal position, please send a letter of recommendation and accompanying materials electronically to the email address above. Questions about the judicial evaluation commission process can be directed to the same email address above.
Committee members may place calls to gather information about your candidacy, so please note on your application if you need for your application to remain confidential.
