Padilla Statement on U.S. Service Members Killed in Kabul Attack
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) released the following statement on the 13 U.S. service members killed in the terrorist attack in Afghanistan, that included 10 U.S. service members based at Camp Pendleton and four California residents:
“Angela and I join the nation in grieving the tragic loss of these heroic U.S. service members who lost their lives bravely serving their country and working to save their fellow Americans and our Afghan allies. We must honor their ultimate sacrifice and never forget their service to our nation.
“I remain committed to advocating for the safe and expedited evacuation of Americans, our allies, and vulnerable Afghans. I am also thinking of the close-knit community surrounding Camp Pendleton. This is a devastating loss for a community that has welcomed so many brave American daughters and sons with open arms. The resilience of our military families and communities in the face of tragedy is a measure of true strength.”
