Keeping Families Together
On August 19, 2024, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) implemented Keeping Families Together, a process that allows certain noncitizen spouses and stepchildren of U.S. citizens to request parole in place.
Through this process, eligible individuals can apply for parole in place, and if approved, work lawfully and remain in the United States. Furthermore, certain eligible individuals may apply for a green card without leaving the United States and being separated from their families. Senator Padilla believes that families should not be forced apart for years because our immigration system is broken. Thanks to the Biden-Harris Administration’s actions, thousands of mixed-status American families can stay and plan for a future together.
