Alex believes that confronting global challenges requires strong partnerships. He is committed to supporting programs that fight climate change, promote democracy and human rights, and reestablish U.S. moral leadership on the world stage. Alex understands the importance of strengthening our democratic institutions at home in order to lead by example. In a time of global instability, he believes America’s leadership is vital in pursuit of a safer and more prosperous world for all.

Following the U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan, Senator Padilla led 25 of his Senate colleagues in calling on President Biden to continue the safe relocation of Afghan refugees. Alex also stands with the brave people of Ukraine against Russia’s unprovoked and unjustifiable invasion of their sovereign, democratic nation—and he helped successfully urge the Biden administration to grant Temporary Protected Status to Ukrainians fleeing wartime devastation. He is working with the State Department and other federal agencies to assist constituents with casework and has put together resources available here.
